In der Biographie "Nimitz" von E.B. Potter, USNI 1976, ISBN 0-87021-492-6 findet sich auf Seite 420 folgende Passage:

Admiral Nimitz took advantage of his friendship with President Truman to educate the latter regarding the Navy and sea power. To help Truman to forget hir artillery days, Nimitz set up for him as a vacation spot a Little White House at the Key West Naval Base. From there he arranged for Truman to take submarine rides, including trips in at least one U-Boat that the United States had taken over. He escorted the President out to some carriers to demonstrate to him what the carriers could do. Truman's affection for the Army never diminished but, under Nimitz's tutelage, he acquired considerable respect for the Navy."

Weiß jemand, auf welchem/n Boot/en Truman unterwegs war, da das aus dem o.g. Buch nicht hervorgeht.
