U.75 sank landing craft tanks A.2 (Sub Lt E. L. Clark DSC, DSM RNVR) and A 7 (Sub Lt A. C. Bromley RNVR), which had departed Tobruk on the 11th, in 32-08N, 24-56E.
Clark, Bromley,Skipper J. C. Norton RNR, of A.2, T/Skipper J. R. Peel RNR, of A.7, twenty six ratings, an officer in the Royal Engineers, four Australian soldiers, and two Italian prisoners of war were lost. Only one crew survived; A/Petty Officer W. A. Henley, DSM, from A 7 was rescued the next day and taken prisoner by the submarine. The rating taken to Piraeus and later to Germany.
Minelaying cruiser ABDIEL and destroyers HERO, KIPLING, and NIZAM approaching Tobruk at 1950/12th saw oil and heard cries, but were unable to search due to being already behind schedule.
