A Compendium of Research on Art, Architecture and Camouflage........

This information was posted on the SteelNavy MB by Bobolink Books:

At the risk of being still more "strange but (thank goodness) informative," we can tell you that this photograph was taken at the US naval camouflage unit's Design Sub-Section in Washington DC, c1918. The two men in the photograph are artist Everett L. Warner (head of the sub-section) and architect and Olympic fencing champion Harold Van Buskirk (executive head of the larger naval camouflage unit). To find out more about both of these people, go to their Wikipedia biographies. Other details about their lives and other camouflage artists, with other photographs and excerpts from their writings, with a 37-page bibliography of historic information on this and other aspects of camouflage, see the newly published book by Roy R. Behrens, titled CAMOUPEDIA: A Compendium of Research on Art, Architecture and Camouflage (Bobolink Books 2009), ISBN 9780971324466, available now online at the bookstore at our website, as well as soon at Amazon.
