Landungsoperation "Bristle"

Beim Querlesen im Admiralty War Diary bin ich auf ein neues MGB-Gefecht gestoßen.
Dieser Landungsversuch (wahrscheinlich nur ein Test der deutschen Abwehrbereitschaft) fehlt komplett in unserer "Chronik des Seekrieges".

Operation "Bristle". A landing was made but was unsuccessful and there were several military casualties. All craft have returned and are returning, troops having been put ashore at Hastings. - The landing was made at 0245 and the withdrawal at 0340, considerable opposition being encountered. Whilst the troops were on shore M.G.B. 324 and 330 on patrol immediately to Southward of beach encountered two enemy patrol boats, one of which was sunk and the other damaged. M.G.B. 326 and M.L.s 137 and 293 suffered superficial damage in air attack during a withdrawal. (Admiralty War Diary, 4.6.1942, page 74/75 PDF-Scan 90 f.)

Zwischen 03.00 und 03.10 Uhr fand nördl. St.Cecil zwischen Dannes und Le Touquet mit Unterstützung von Tieffliegern ein englischer Landungsversuch mit Schlauchbooten statt, der durch Infanterie abgeschlagen wurde. 2 Gefangene. Heer beschoss und verjagte 4-5 feindl. S-Boote, dabei eigenes Hafenschutzboot, das aufgrund Verwundung des Signalgastes kein ES gab, getroffen und ausgebrannt. Besatzung gerettet. Versenkung eines Hafenschutzbootes bestätigt.
Frage: Welche HS-Flottille kommt infrage? Wo kann ich die Identität dieses Bootes ermitteln ?

Operation Bristle

'Bristle' was a British special forces raid on the radar site near Plage Ste Cecile on the coast of German-occupied northern France between Boulogne and Le Touquet by a party of No. 6 Commando led by Lieutenant Philip Pinkney (3/4 June 1942).

Planned first as 'Lancing' and then developed as 'Dearborn', the undertaking encountered stiff resistance and suffered something of a tactical reverse, but nonetheless had a positive result in the achievement of a useful reconnaissance of the local beach conditions. At about the break of day, during the passage back to the UK, the naval force was attacked by German fighters, which damaged two motor launches and one motor gun boat, killing one commando and two naval personnel as well as wounding another 19, only the arrival of British fighters then preventing additional damage and losses.

Basic timetable of events for Operation Bristle.

29th May Friday. No 1 Commando disembarked from HMS Queen Emma and arrived in Havant at about 15.00 hours. Troops put into billets.

30th May Saturday. Spent washing clothes and overhauling kit as troops had been standing by in HMS Prince Leopold for Operation Earthquake.

31st May Sunday. Bristle was rehearsed as a drill in the afternoon. From 22.00 till 03.00 hours Bristle was carried out on a beach approximately 3 miles from Northney.

1st June Monday. AM Troops cleaned kit. At 17.00 hours the previous nights practice was carried out under daylight conditions.

2nd June Tuesday. Troops drawing kit and final preparations under Troop arrangements.
Preliminary briefing at Northney, CO HMS Prince Albert, Flotilla Officer and Officer Commanding Troops.

3rd June Wednesday
07.00 -10.00. Troops embarked in ALC with kit at Northney and were embarked on HMS Prince Albert by 10.00 hours
The rest of the morning and afternoon was issuing orders, kit etc.-
18.40. HMS Prince Albert Sailed
21.30. Approximately HMS Prince Albert rendezvous with MGB escort South of Newhaven.

4th June Thursday
00.25. 7 Assault Landing Craft and 1 Support Landing Craft lowered approximately nine miles offshore
02.50/55. All Landing Craft beached. HQ, 1, 2, 4 and 6 Troop landed. Enemy opened fire shortly after landing.
03.23. approx.-Signal given to re-embark by wireless and bugle.
03.40 Re-embarkation complete.
05.10/05.15. Dive bombing attack on M.G.B.s by German Air Force.
10.00. Approximately. Expected arrival time at Hasting.

Two Force Commanders were : Lt/Cdr Cartright RNVR and Major K. R. S. Trevor 1 Commando

Naval Force : 8 7 ALC and 1 LCS on HMS Prince Albert

Kommandounternehmen gegen deutsche Radaranlagen gab es mehrere, z.B. auch  Operation Biting (auch als Bruneval-Raid bekannt).
Hier lag die Rolle der Royal Navy allerdings nur bei der Evakuierung.

KTB Admiral Frankreich und KTB Seekommandant Pas de Calais. Nach letzterem gehörten die HS-Boote zur Hafenschutzflottille Boulogne, für die ich auf die Schnelle kein KTB gefunden habe.

HS 36 gesunken ; HS 204 hingegen überstand seine Schäden.
