Hi Urs,

Trenkle only writes that three sets (FuMO 72 probebly) were issued. No boat numbers. The instalation of FuMG on S 67 and S 86 is also in the HMA

Both Frank and Trenkel only uses "Seezielgranatensammelkasten" for the FuMO 72 (probably wrongly) and not for the FuMO 70 on S 112.

There is still the mix up about if Miller was on S 26 or on S 27/S 51 and the same for Röhl.

so wie ich es verstehe, zitiert Frank nur den OKM-Müller-Vortrag und der spricht von einer "teleskopartigen drehbaren Antenne", die den Spitznamen "Seezielgranatensammelkasten" bekam

Hi Urs,

I reread the Muller report.
As I understand it page 3 is about S 112 with the FuMO 70 and page 4 is about the FuMO 72 on S 67 and S 86.

handelt. Absolut sicher ist das aber nicht.
Wären S 67 oder S 86 gemeint gewesen, die beide nicht in der 5. S-Fltl, zu der bis März 1944 Müller gehörte, sondern in der 2. S-Fltl zum Einsatz kamen, hätte M., der seinen Vortrag ja "aus eigenen Erfahrungen" hielt, das meiner Meinung nach auch gesagt.

Yes Urs,

I see it as he is  talking about S 67/S 86 and then jumps back to his personel experince with night fighters at 6-7000 m on S 112. He then also explains that the Lichtenstein on S 112 was not extended as on S 67/S 86 when he did it (becouse it was fixed).

I think this is what we see on the photos of S 112, S 67 and S 86. Could it be some other boats or did S 112 have more FuMO sets?

Hi,

Part of the "Asse zur See" film is about how Wrampe got his new boat S 86. it is quite fun to see how they filmed it.

1. Feldt tells Wrampe to go and get his new boat in the Ijmuiden bunker.
2. Boat construction at the Lürssen wharf. Wrampe is watching it (he is probably not there)
3. Wrampe leaves through a gate and sees his new boat, a typ S 30! in Vegesack harbour.
4. Wrampes "Karo" Wappen is painted on the new boat that is now a typ S 38 (this is probably S 86)
5. Wrampe enters the boat that is now a typ S 38 in Ijmuidin harbour.
6. Wrampe takes on his fur jacket and we can see that it is his old boat S 108 with the "Karo" Wappen

Hi,

More from the Asse Film.

S 105 with commander Howaldt and Flottille commander Feldt is shown as if they were waiting by a Tonne in the Channel. (Time 2:14)
They are actually filmed in the Ijmuiden harbor in daylight.

Note the lucky horse shoe and the tilted ace of harts cards on the front and the hart without bar on the side.

The S 46 with commander Priebe had the skat card "Eichel" as Wappen. He also had his lucky grenade splinter bolted to the horn. I think S 46 was the first/only boat with a Bofors gun in 2. SFtl in 1942?

Not that they have probably turned the boats around to get a more dramatic exit when filmed leaving the bunker.

Das ist richtig.

Ich bin ein wenig von dem Bild irritiert, auf dem man das auslaufende "Herz"-Boot und links davon kurz ein Boot sieht, das ein Karo-Wappen zu tragen scheint.

Nur gibt es nach KTB kein gemeinsames Unternehmen von S 105 und S 86 bei der 2. S-Fltl

S 105 verließ Ijmuiden am 16.12.1942 nach letztem Einsatz am 12./13.12.
S 86 kam am 16.12.1942 erstmals nach Ijmuiden

It only looks like a diamond. It is actually von Stempel in S 80, Wappen "Pike" without bar. You can se the tilted ace of spades card on the front.

There are photos of the other boats as well, except S 101?

S 62, Johannsen with Wappen "Kreutz" without bar. Seemann No.1 has the number "13" on his cap.
