Hello all,

Does anyone know if Oblt.(ing.) Joachim Deichsel served aboard U-129?

I have a signature of a Deichsel in a Soldbuch signing as Lt.z.S. u. I.W.O. Kmdt. i.v. on 3.2.1944.
On another page he signs Lt. (ing.) u. Kmdt. i.v. on 25.7.1944.

Thanks in advance,
Ian

Hi Ian,

You could be right U-129 Kmdt Richard von Harpe 12.7.43-18.8.44.

Joachim Deichsel was on U-3519 which was also Kmdt by Richard von Harpe

Hi Ian,

Joachim Deichsel served on U 129 as supernumerary engineer officer from 7 July 1943 until 7 September 1943. On the following day he replaced the former engineer officer, serving in that position until the boat was decommissioned at Lorient. Like many other former crew members of U 129 he then was assigned to the new construction U 3519. He eventually perished with this boat when it hit a aerial mine of Warnemünde on 2 March 1945.

Many thanks Gentlemen,

Sorry for the late reply, but I didn't get any email notification... need to look into that  :BangHead:

Interesting that many crew from U-129 went to U-3519. In this case the crewmember went to U-190 the day before U-129 was scuttled.

Regards,
Ian
