Strange Italian vessel called as Venchione

Hello,

According to some sources (e.g. Groener) Germans managed to seize in Greece an Italian vessel Venchione what happened just after the Italian Armistice. The vessel was renamed as GP 05 or GP 04. I was not able to figure out what vessel it could be in the reality. Recently a new idea came to my mind. It could be a small Italian submarine chaser AS 43 Fedelsono which was reported to be in Lavrion on the 8th of September 1943. Maybe it was seized by Germans and used afterwards by the Küstenschutzflottille Peloponnes. I guess that Germans could easily make a typing mistake and put the name as Venchione or Vencheono. Both names sound for them very Italian I hope somebody could confirm my theory or maybe explain it in the other way?

In Vol.8, p.466 Groener describes the vessel MS VENCHIONE as follows:
43m x 6m x 2,5m, 120 PSe; 12.09.1943 Küstensicherungsflottille Attika; 21.05.1944 GP 05; 09.1944 verloren.

Vielen Dank für Deine schnelle Antwort. Ja, ich habe das gleiche im Groener Werk gesehen. Ich konnte aber das Schiff mit dem Namen Venchione gar nicht identifizieren. Ich habe auch mit einem Italiener gesprochen u. der Name ist definitiv nicht richtig. Ich hab mir gedacht das sollte ein anderes Schiff sein u. deshalb hab ich meine neue Idee dargestellt. Kannst mal bitte noch die anderen Seiten zum 9.9. von KTB Küstenschutz Attika hochladen oder an mich senden?

Das Entscheidende ist nicht der (falsche) Name, sondern die Angaben zur Vermessung (Länge, Breite, Tiefgang)
Passen sie zu AS 43 Fedelsono ? In Navi Perdute fand ich leider keine "Fedelsono.

Ich finde nicht, dass die Worte Venchione und Fedelsono zum Verwechseln ähnlich klingen.
Schiffe werden oft nach Ortschaften benannt. Es gibt, das ist jetzt nur ein Beispiel, in Italien einen Ort namens "Venzone". Das klingt schon sehr ähnlich.
Leider habe ich noch keinen Namen gefunden, der zu einem real existierenden Schiff passt.  Für heute ist jetzt aber Schluss.

Hello to everybody,
I think Greg is right about AS 43 FEDELSONO / GP 05.
The german KTB stated that the 3 italian U-chaser NIOI, VENCHIONE, S.BARTOLO were captured in Lavrion on Italian armistice. If we compared this information with an italian document about the sub-chaser situation at 15/08/43, we can see that the 3 sub-chaser assigned to Lavrion were S.BARTOLO, NIOI and FEDELSONO.

Hello Marco,

Thank you very much. Yes, this was exactly my way of thinking as well. The spelling of San Bartolo is also wrong (in KTB stated as San Bortelo...). The Germans made spelling mistakes quite often in many places of different KTBs. That's why I supposed since a long time that Venchione might be also a spelling mistake. There is no information what happened to Fedelsono.  It was rather a small vessel nobody tried to investigate before. A vessel of 270 tons as mentioned be Groener we could very likely identified easier. I have no clue how we could prove my idea.
