This was for sale recently as being from WW2 U-48.  I have cleaned it and can now clearly see the markings on the rim - 16; K and 55.  The discolored plastic of the stand is very similar to a piece of HMS Hood's propeller the I have which dates to 1930's. Also given that it was for sale in UK it makes me wonder if it is more likely to be from SM U-48 that was sunk on the Goodwin Sands. The deck gun was removed for display on land

Das ist im Hinblick auf den "16"-Stempel nicht unwahrscheinlich. Schön dass sich offenbar ein weiteres Teil eines dt. WK I - U-Boot erhalten hat.
