Hello, does anyone know if German records contain anything regarding casualties and survivors among the crews of these four vessels, all lost under German control after the armistice?
MONBALDO (sometimes incorrectly reported as MOMBALDO), a former blockade runner that had sailed from Brazil to France and later from France to the Baltic Sea, was sunk by an air raid in Stettin on 24 March 1945.
MAR BIANCO and SANGIGI were both sunk by air raids in Dalmatia, the former in Zara/Zadar on 7 December 1943 and the latter in Dubrovnik on 10 March 1944.
PALERMO, the former Greek ATHINAI captured by the torpedo boat SIMONE SCHIAFFINO off Messina on 28 October 1940 (the day Italy declared war on Greece), was sunk by a mine off the mouth of the Tagliamento on 27 May 1944. This according to "Navi mercantili perdute", whereas some websites claim that she was only damaged by the mine and was sunk by an air raid in Fiume in July 1944.
From Historisches Marinearchiv: PALERMO, 2.9.1943 damaged by 4 RAF Beaufighters of 252 Squadron with bombs at Preveza; taken to Vlore 9.9.1943, 11.9.1943 captured by the Wehrmacht and later delivered to Mittelmeer Reederei GmbH. 26.5.1944 en route from Venice to Porec in Croatia, 27.5.44 at 04.00 hits a mine, damaged and sunk at 45°33.7' North/ 13° 24.8' East

Hallo Kalli,
Danke für deine schnelle Antwort.
Vielleicht wird ja irgendwann was veröffentlich.
Der Name des Autors bürgt ja für Qualität.
Schönen Tag

Thanks everyone. Is there anything on Monbaldo and Sangigi?
Hello again, does anyone know any information on the fate of the crew of Monbaldo when she was sunk by an air raid in Stettin on 24 March 1945?
According to agreement on 20 September 1946 between Poland and Soviets
MONBALDO, which sank in the Basen Notecki of the Szczecin Harbour was realocated
to Soviet Union as a wreck which could be repaired.
Yes, the ship was repaired (in Wismar and later in the Netherlands) and resumed sailing in June 1955 for the Soviet Union, as Kaliningrad. Later Banga from May 1960, scrapped in Hamburg in 1969.
I wondered if KTBs or other documents record if there were any casualties in her sinking in 1945.
Wracks in Szczecin (Stettin), etc divided between Poland (Polska) and Soviets (ZSRR)
Szczecin - Stettin
Swinoujscie - Swinemünde
Ustka - Stolpmünde
Wraki zdatne do remontu - Wreck which could be repaired
Wraki niezdatne do remontu - Wreck which could not be repaired
Wypornosc - Displacement
