Eine dt. Ju 88 versenkt den sowj. Minensuch-Trawler Navaga (RT-4) bei Vostochnaya Liza.

I suspect that this information is not entirely correct. German sources shows that the attack was made by He 111 from I/KG 26, see attachment (intercepted German communications).

Very interesting data! This is Swedish interception?
I know that KG 26 fly to armed recon at the end of 1941, but 1./124 and it's Ju.88 also made it. There was no detailed data about plane type, just "bomber".

Yes, intercepted landline communications, mostly between Norway and Germany. The intercepts are available in the Swedish War Archive but as far as I know they have not been digitized.

Thanks Jan-Olof! Do you know, how many such interceptions available? 1941 is very poor in aspect of Luftwaffe sorties, strength and victory claims, and this source can be very helpful. Too pity that nobody bring it to light.

Hello Igor,
I believe that there are around 40000 intercepts for 1941. It must be noted that only a part of these refer to Luftwaffe operations. Others deal with, for example:

- (dis)location of army, naval and air (Luftflotte 5) units
- Army Staff organization in Norway and Finland
- Diplomatic correspondence
- Summaries of what's happening on other fronts

etc. A bit of everything really.

Another thing is that the quality of the intercepts vary, some are incomplete and others have missing groups, i.e. some words are missing. To that must be added the usual errors made both by the code breakers and the telegraph operators.

Hallo zusammen,

bei der Suche auf den Ursprüngen der Meldung zu Ju 88 habe ich bisher gefunden:
a) KTB Skl, Teil A:

18.12.1941
Raum um England:
[...] Bewaffnete Aufklärung meldet einen Dampfer von 2000 BRT durch 1.K.G.26 beschädigt.

Ich denke es handelt sich hier um die Meldung zu Nordmeer.

b) Великая Отечественная. День за днём // Морской сборник. - 1991:

18.12.1941:
[...]Неприятельский Ю-88 потопил в губе В. Лица возвращавшийся с промысла РТ-4.[...]

But where? I can't find such message in Teil A Band 28.

Looks like Ju.88 was taken from soviet side. Perhaps somebody don't know that 1./KG 26 fly He.111 that time.

Auch Wikipedia schreibt unter Lemma "Kampfgeschwader 26":

Das Geschwader war anfangs mit der Heinkel He 111 ausgestattet. Im April 1942 rüstete die II. Gruppe als erste auf die Junkers Ju 88 um. Bis März 1944 war auch die I./KG 26, als letzte Gruppe des Geschwaders, mit diesem Flugzeugmuster ausgestattet.

Nun gibt ja die "Chronik des Seekrieges" gar kein Geschwader an. Von Anfang an mit Ju 88 ausgestattet war das Kampfgeschwader 30, ebenfalls im Nordpolarmeer-Einsatz.

Ich werde den Eintrag in der HMA-Version der Chronik demnächst verbessern. Danke für den Tipp, Jan-Olof.
