Hi Urs,

There are similar Indienststellung photos in both albums

"the S 113 album" photo No. 36712,  Link: http://www.ipernity.com/doc/264262/26557453

Gert Lürssen with a grey hat? 36 men (two crews?). OLt Schnebel at the front (difficult to see the gold leaf on his cap, better photos later in the album). Why is the crew of S 113 (Schlichting boat, 14 March 1943) with Gert Lürssen? Joint training with the S 74 (Lürssen 27 March 1943) crew? Winter coats. Could the other civilan be Mr. Schlichting?

"the S 135 album?" photo No. 39199 Link: http://www.ipernity.com/doc/264262/26557393

Gert Lürssen in a white hat? 25 men crew without an officer. I think it is S 135 on 29 May 1943. I think OLt Licht was absent for some reason. There are more photos of the Portepeeunteroffizier celebrating with drinks in Kiel-wik. It is summer.

Hi,

A question regarding the "S 135" album.

Do anyone know what the thing is on top of the Kalotte. Link: http://www.ipernity.com/doc/264262/26636893
It is probebly not the same boat as the damaged one (S 135?) based on the white paint spills on the front hatch. They have also a diffrent dog. The man on the left is probebly the album owner. Could it be S 137 that was lost on the same day as S 135 was damaged in Kiel.

There are two more photos of this boat. Where is it? Vegesack?

Nein. Der Hintergrund paßt nicht zu deutschen Nordseehäfen. Möglich wären mMn: Kiel, Eckernförde, Flensburg, Stralsund.

Hi,

Yes, I think Kiel would be the most probeble.
There are two photos showing an U-Boot at the same place in the other album.

Hi,

The S 113 boat has a four leaf clover (Vierblättriges Kleeblatt) painted on the bridge.
There are many other examples where the lucky clover has been painted on the bridge or on the gun shields.
I think it must have a meaning. Just good luck? Survived an attack? A wounded crew man? Dead crew man?
Is there a general Kriegsmarine tradition about the clover?

A new question.

There was a number of photos in E-bay that showed a typ S 7 Schnellboot at a strange building. Link: http://www.ipernity.com/doc/264262/24492417

I now understand that it is TVA Nord in Eckenförde. The photos shows a big ship with army soliders on it being recived (or are they leving?) by a large deligation on the TVA. The Schnellboot could have been the escort or maybe it was stationed at the TVA. Later (or earlier?) photos shows Libau with snow.

There is not any text on the photos (except some addreses).

What year could it be? Winter...
Why this large reception?

Hi,

There is some new TVA Eckernförde-Nord photos on Ebay.de (Trondheim is wrong!)  Link: http://www.ebay.de/itm/Foto-Kriegsmarine-Schnellboot-Hafen-Trondheim-Norwegen-S-Boot-Sperrballon-/360835423170?pt=Militaria&hash=item5403779bc2

They show an Type S 7 Schnellboot with rear fireing torpedo tubes. Probebly a test for the new typ S 700 serie. The TVA also looks a bit more bombed with several windows missing and ballons for protection.

Hallo ola,
Hier http://www.forum-marinearchiv.de/smf/index.php/topic,15235.15.html
findest Du Fotos der TVA Nord,Süd und Gotenhafen
Ich finde da nichts vergleichbares  :?
bei TVA Ost auch nicht.

Beate

Hi Beate,

I am quite sure that it is TVA Nord. You can folow the red line from the tip of the yellow Schnellboot over the not so small house to the tip of the balcony on the TVA tower. A possible cran is also visibel (better on one of your posts). There is a good photo of a crane in my first post. Crane link: http://www.ipernity.com/doc/264262/24517009

The other boat must be MTB 345 (Thornycroft 55') that was captured in Norway 27 July 1943. It looks like they have switched torpedo tubes between the MTB and the Schnellboot based on the colors.

Hallo ola,
das sieht überzeugend aus, (ich hatte Richtung Land geschaut),
Welches Schiff sieht man hinter dem Schnellboot?

Hier http://www.ipernity.com/doc/264262/29638969

Hallo Beate,

The vehicles are Neptune amphibians, a british version of the LVT-4 used post war.

Hi,

I want to sort out the diffrent Wappen on the 3 S-Ftl boats. The only way is probebly to try to identifiy where and when the diffrent photos of the boats were taken. It was started here. Link: http://www.forum-marinearchiv.de/smf/index.php/topic,16848.msg225079.html#msg225079

I think that the diffrent symbols (sea creatures) were applied in May 1941.

Here is on photo that I had some trouble finding (3 type S 30 boats). PK Reymann (He has also written the book Schatten voraus! "Sophie Toni!" about 3 S-Ftl in Lettland, 1941).

I now know that the photo is from Sassnitz and must have been taken between 6-10 June 1941. They have now removed the rail way (and the house?) and built a new bridge there.

Where is the last photo taken with the Meerungeheuer? Kiel? Pillau?
