Hallo zusammen,

[unleserlich]

Admirality War Diary:
ZitatMTBs 309 and 312 attacked F-Boats escorted by E-Boats off Bomba at 0300. 1 F-Boat was damaged and possibly sunk.

Hi,

What kind of a German ship English writing?

Wartime Activities.
22-23/3/43   MTB 265 and MTB 311 depart Bone to conduct an offensive sweep off Plane Island, Tunisia.
0150 Lookouts spot four vessels moving in formation. The senior officer decides that MTB 311 will attack with torpedoes and MTB 265 will cover her with gunfire if required.
0220 MTB 311 approaches, on silent engine, to attack and reaches a point 700yds from the third vessel before firing two torpedoes. The Germans return fire and MTB 311 turns to starboard to disengage. A flak lighteris is sunk, On the return trip to Bone, a mine explodes in the wake of MTB 311.

Thank you.

It is not clear what was the route of the convoy. I think the route Sousse - Trapani lay to the east of Cape Bon,  and MTB patrolled around  Plane Island.

You are right, cam.
Unfortunately I don't find Plane Island.

As you told us that a flak lighter (Flak MFP) was engaged among four vessels, I found the following entry:

4 German landing ferries (motozattere)
from 22.03./13u45 Trapani to Bizerta arriving at 23.03./08u35.
No loss mentioned. Unfortunately the numbers of lighters are not cited.

Yes. The Plane Island  is on the way from Trapani to Bizerte. Perhaps this is the convoy that was attacked MTB, but no reports of an attack on the German side, and the British write that were fired.

Thank you. Helpful information. The names of these islands are often referred to in describing battles off the coast of Tunisia.
Was sunk the night 24/03/1943 in region Bizerte   any German ship?

Hi,

On the night of July 29/30 1943, PT's again met F-lighters. This time Lt. (jg.) Richard H. O'Brien, in Clifford's PT 204, with Lt. Norman DeVol's PT 217, engaged two F-lighters escorted by four MAS boats, firing six torpedoes and strafing the MAS boats before heavy fire from one of the lighters forced them to retire. The Italian officer commanding the MAS boats in this action was later interviewed in Capri. He said one F-lighter had been sunk and one MAS boat had been so badly damaged that it was abandoned and sunk by the other MAS boats.

I guess none.

War diary Marinekommando Italien mentions only fight of some Fährprähme against 3 PT boats and that they sustained only minor damage.

Hi,

What the German MFP was sunk in this battle?

On the night of 3/4 August 1943 USS Gherardi and Rhind were making a night offensive sweep along the coast, when at 22:15, a few miles off Cape Calava, they picked up a small convoy consisting of one of the German MFP lighters escorted by two E-boats. At a range of 4,000 yards (3,700 m), the destroyers illuminated the convoy with star shell and opened up with main batteries. MFP blew up at 22:25 and one of the escorting boats was sunk; the other fired at least one torpedo, which missed.
