Beitrag von: Antonio Bonomi am 18 Dezember 2011, 10:01:40
Hello zusammen,

we were discussing on kbismarck.com about Admiral Hipper hull protection scheme :

http://www.kbismarck.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=3945

in particular about several plates that were added externally on bow and stern to complete the internal belt 80 mm hull side protection.

Any comment  from your competent side my friends ?

Hello zusammen,

here from the book of Koop & Schmolke on Adm Hipper class warships the highlights in colour of the externally applied armour plates scheme on the Admiral Hipper class cruisers.

Whitley on his book only wrote about it because the scheme of the cruiser he showed was internal view and not external.

Now everything should be a little more clear I hope.

It's "homebrew" scheme of the armor belts "Hipper"-class cruisers.

It's explains the location of armor belt, but do not remove the question of the thickness of the belt in forward.
