hi, Hubertus,
I had the honour to meet Mr. Kelm in person and have a long talk with him.
He started his E-boat career in the summer of 1941 as a watch officer in the 4th flottilla and participated in the "Channel Dash" in February, 1942, as a watch officer on "S 110" (Causemann).
He was transferred to the new 7th E-boat flottilla and commissioned "S 154" on June, 10, 1942, still with the rank of "Fähnrich zur See". For another 4 weeks, he was the de facto commanding officer although officially "charged with the performance of duties" only (in German: m.d.W.d.G.b.)
He commissioned "S 305" in April, 1945.
Mr. Kelm will be celebrating his 90th birthday next month.
greetings, Urs
Many Thanks Urs.
