Stöbere gerade im Dinklage/Witthöft: Die dt. Handelsflotte 1939-1945 herum, und da stellte sich mir die Frage:
welche(s) Schiff(e) war(en) die Flaggschiffe der Roten Handelsflotte?
Klar, grosse Fahrgaster in der Linie einer "Bremen", "Europa", der Königinen, usw hatten die nicht. Bis jetzt sind mir aber nur relativ kleine Kocher aufgefallen...
Gabs sowas "Flaggschiff der Roten Handelsflotte" überhaupt? Falls nicht, welches Schiff was das grösste vor 1945?

das 1941 bei der Evakuierung gesunkene Passagierschiff Iosif Stalin (1939, 7494 BRT) wäre ein Kandidat für's "Flaggschiff" ..
aber es fällt mir noch der Tanker Sovetskaja Neft (8228 BRT) ein ..

Mir geht es sowohl um das "grösste Schiff", als auch um die in der restlichen Welt bekannten Begriff "Flaggschiff der Handelsmarine".

She had a first voyage under Soviet flag on 23.07.1921 to Germany to pick up about 700 passengers (mainly ex prisoners of war). Since 1918 till 1923 ss Transbalt was in fleet of Baltic Department of Sovtorgflot. In 1923 she was delivered to Black Sea Department of Sovtorgflot to work on line between Black Sea and Soviet Far East. Within 10 years she was a biggest Soviet Merchant ship and a flagship of Merchant Marine. In 1941 she was delivered to Far East Shipping Co. On 13.06.1945 at 03:36 she was torpedoed and sunk by US submarine SPADEFISH in La Perouse Strait when sailed from Seattle to Vladivostok with passengers and 9800 tons cargo on board. Crew and passengers proceeded to nearest Japanese port on 4 boats and on 30.06.1945 successfully returned to Soviet Union on board ms Khabarovsk.
sieht aber danach aus, dass ab zumindest ca 1933 es auch ein grösseres Schiff gegeben hätte.
