I'm looking for information regarding sinking of Dirschau (ex polish steamer Tczew, 762 Brt, built in Netherlands in 1924 ) on 4.12.1944 off Leba. What was the exact area and circumstances of her loss? Mine? Did the crew survived? Is there any report regarding her sinking?
Dirschau sank at 15h35 in pos. 54°47'N, 17°28'E, most probably on a drifting mine. It could not been a mine of Soviet submarine LEMBIT, as her mine barrage off Brüsterort war too far off.
In this forum we have already had a thread discussing the difficulty to state the attacker/ mine layer in the area between Hela and Kolberg.
Obviously neither area of RAF "gardeners" nor area of Soviet minelaying submarines.
Best regards
Thomas
