General remarks:
- perhaps it would be good to add one chronological order were the history of all boats in one place could be found
- I would
bold the names of enemy boats that were sighted or attacked by Italian boats. It would ease up finding the names of the opponents when browsing through the history of the boats
Very few small remarks on CB boats operating on the Black See:
CB 2Zitat18 VI 1942
At 0500 hours, a Soviet submarine was sighted dead ahead at distance of 1,800 metres. It appeared to be of the CHUKA class and about to submerge.
In Russian it is Щука so it should be SHCHUKA.
ZitatAt 0502 hours, two torpedoes (450mm) were fired with an interval of 8 seconds. The first was a surface runner. The enemy submarine was now diving and CB 2 did the same. One explosion was heard after 100 seconds and it was believed to have been sunk.
The target was the small Soviet submarine A-4 (Senior Lieutenant Trofimchuk Sergey Artemyevich) and she was missed. At 0606C hours, the Russians heard an explosion which probably the same explosion heard in CB 2 and was probably that of a torpedo exploding prematurely.
In other cases the sequence used was Name Patronymic and Surname so it should be Sergey Artemyevich Trofimchuk
CB 313 VI 1942
ZitatAt 0404 hours, a cruiser of the TASCHKENT class followed at a distance of 2,000 metres by a cruiser of the KIROV class, were sighted at a distance of 8,000 metres, steering 180° at 20 knots.
TASHKENT (without C in it!) was of course destroyer not a cruiser :TU:)
15 VI 1942
ZitatAt 1345 hours, the midget surfaced in the area and found a floating corpse and assumed it was was from the sunken submarine.
Doubled was.
Polish submarines:
ZOEA8 XI 1943
ZitatAt 1840 hours, a submarine was sighted making a recognition signal, but dived before it was returned (possibly U-565?). Zoea turned away.
That was DZIK which at 18.20 sighted submarine bearing 265 at 5000 yards. Made the challenge 3 times without receiving reply. On closing was recognized as Italian (probably ZOEA) hence dived.

Many thanks for your interest and the suggestions/corrections which I will deal thus:
1. I have been asked by uboat.net to conform to their method of putting warships in italics and merchant ships in bold and italics.. Warships appear in red and italics when there is a link to their page. Hopefully, more sections will be added in the future (chronology, etc.). They are ready now but this will depend on their acceptance by uboat.net.
2. The references to the spelling of Russian vessels: spelling can vary according to the phonetics of the European language. Thus CHUKA in Italian is spelled SHCHUKA in English. I have left the Italian spelling used in the reports and have put the English spelling in brackets to satisfy you.
3. The order of the names of the Soviet commander has been changed.
4. The double "was" is corrected.
5. Tashkent was a destroyer leader (2800 tons) and sometime described as a small cruiser. For size it was comparable to the French Mogador class. The report used the term "cruiser" and I have added in brackets "destroyer leader".
6. The submarine was most probably ORP Dzik (I had this in my database on the Polish side but not updated the Italian side). We have no absolute certainty as neither the Polish or Italian reports mention a position. The only thing that links them is the time of the encounter (1820 versus 1840 hours) and the general area [Kaso Strait].

On CB 2 page you sometimes have italics for name of warships and sometimes UPPER LETTER.
2. Noted - though I would stick to the naming convention that uboat.net is already using. In our example it would be ShCh (Scuka) :-o
But above anything else - you need to be consistent across all pages.

Like mentioned earlier - that should be consistent so either cruiser or destroyer in both :O/S
Or Flotilla Leader as stated on uboat.net :-D
6. Polish report includes position from 8 XI / 12.00 as 34°55' N / 27°40,5' E and it identifies the sub as "Italian submarine ZORA" (incorrectly read ZOEA)

Hello Urs,
I have suggested to uboat.net that instead of the heading "GRT" at the top of the columns a heading of "GRT/tons" would be more exact (otherwise a need of extra columns to make the distinction). It was pointed out to me that "Warships are listed in tons." is mentioned at the bottom of the page. I do not control the display so can only make suggestions!
There are lists of "most successful submarines" and "ships hit" which are to appear soon. More to follow.

1. The links are being done by Brian Corijn. As there are many changes in the work and he is very busy with his work on British major warships, he will have to update these sometime in the future.
2. I have put the name of ships in UPPER case when I am referring to a class or when the identity is guessed and not specific.
5. I think that Flotilla leader or Large destroyer are valid descriptions for the same ship. I try to keep it as close as used in the patrol report.
6. The Polish submarine position was added, many thanks!
I do not know if a "Today" page will be added in the future. This depends on uboat.net and there is quite a bit of work still to be done.
