Can anyone help please.I would like to know if navy personnel were used in "Festung Royan"
After the unit was disbanded in September 1944, would the redundant crews stay on and be used as defensive units.Would they be still part of the navy or would they be transferred to an army unit

at least the Commanding Officer belonged to the Kriegsmarine : Komteradmiral Michahelles (https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hans_Michahelles)
