Some apologies for writing in English, but as I am Dutch, I can more or less read German, but writing is another thing.
I have worked some time on a 3D computer model of the Dutch battlecruiser design from just prior WWII: project 1047. The model more or less reflects the last design, which was reached in april 1940. The information is mainly based on an original blueprint that shows the weapon dispositioning and drawings from an article that was published in Warship international in 1960.
The tool I used for this was Rhino3D. When I was finished I have made some renderings using Flamingo Raytrace. I have Photshoped 1 of them into a photo that originally contained an Iowa class battleship. I think that the result is quite reasonable.

Currently I am working (only now and than) on a similar model for the French battleship Gascogne. So maybe in some time there will be a new picture

Very fine work, indeed! Congratulations!
Your mentioning of the Gascogne is very interesting for me... so have a look to http://forum-marinearchiv.de/smf/index.php/topic,3690.0.html - there you will find a download set of plans that could be of some use for you.
