After about 12 years, I think I can finally identify this little craft. The picture is a copy of a photo found at the PT Museum in Memphis, TN in 1995. Last year I realized it is a modified Motoscafo Italian landing boat but the "JL-08" on the side made no sense.
However, "IL-08" is from the Livorno Hafenschutzflottille. Groener's V. 8 lists IL-08 but has no info on it. Can someone confirm that the first letter is indeed an "I?"
The passenger space is enclosed and a 2cm gun is on the bow. The enclosure looks a lot like a caboose from a train! The picture is from pictures connected with USN PT Squadron 15 and looks like it was left behind in Bastia, Corsica. I estimate the picture is from late 1943-early 1944.

I would love to see pictures of any other craft from The Hafenschutzflottille in Genoa, La Spezia, Livorno, Marsailles, or Toulon.

Die Kennung ist genau genommen JL 08. Aber die Marine nutzte zur besseren Erkennbarkeit in der Regel das J als I. So zum Beispiel auch bei den Kennungen der Infanterietransporter (J-O-12).
