Hi Jef,
the Universal type seems to be really interesting, but on the other hand I wonder about the 2nd type with the 4 15inchers: Have you ever made calculations about how the frame of the ship would react to the enormous powers involved in shooting with 381mm-Guns (in salvoes)?

That is just a prospection with new concept... I have not made calculations about the frame of the ship.I use just SpringSharp
The most interresting is the Q turret in the middle of the ship, with the possibility to rebuilt ala Cavour for increase the speed.
So, with the first design, A-Q-Y turret, We are free to imagine rebuilt ala Cavour, ala Gneisenau or a mixture of them.

The midships turret version might be useful for coastal defense but as noted the speed would be lower than could be achieved in the hull.

Si tu l' accepterais, voici une proposition de positionner la tourelle "B" un peu en avant, et en même temps gagnant une disposition meilleure des poids pour l' equilibre longitudinale en rangeant les diesel.
Parallelement, ca fait améliorer les mouvements de la coque en vitesses environ des 20 neuds.
Pourquoi-pas positionner les 10.5cm au pont principal (pos. 1 et 3) et seul la pos. 2 au pont majeur? On y gagnerait un meilleur champs de tir.

Vorschlag, wie Turm B leicht vorlich gesetzt wird - bessere Gewichtsverteilung; gleichzeitig leichte Änderung der Motorenpositionen, um insgesamt besseren Längstrimm (v.a. für Geschwindigkeiten um 20 kn) zu bekommen.
Warum eigentlich nicht die vorderste und achtere 10.5-er aufs Oberdeck setzen, und nur die mittlere aufs Aufbaudeck? Gäbe bessere Bestreichungswinkel.

A better longitudinal balancement - Ok, No problem. That mean certainly lower stress for the hull.
Bridge can be smaller & 10.5cm turrets could be installed between Q turret & second funnel.
I install 10.5cm turrets on the superstructure because I think that the blast from the 28cm guns is lower.

ich liebe diese Threads von Jefgte. Echt Wahnsinn, wie sich da ein Schiff entwickelt, so quasi nur als Weiterentwicklung:
Hier einige Fragen:
Kann es sein, dass die 15er Drillinge etwas sehr hoch liegen und so das Schiff kopflastig werden lassen? Wenn ich die "Deutschlandklasse anschauen, dann habe ich die gesamte MA und SA auf einer Ebene. Dafür gab es bestimmt einen Grund, oder?
Turm B führt doch zu einem wirklichen Problem der Standfestigkeit, oder nicht?
Schafft dieser doch recht gedrungene Kahn tatsächlich 24 kn?
