Titel: DWK Diesel Engines 6MU421 and 6MU423

Trying to determine the origin of main engines used on the Polish schooner, Zawisza Czarny, which is still in service. The vessel went through two main engine exchanges and in both cases a second-hand German-WW2 era engine was used.

The first exchange took place in 1966, and Deutsche Werke Kiel (DWK) 6-cylinder, reversible engine was put in. Engine information:  type 6MU421; cylinder dia/stroke -280/420; rated 300 HP; Engine manufacturing number: 4849 / 4853

In 1980, there was  second exchange and another Deutsche Werke Kiel (DWK) 6 cylinder reversible engine was installed. This time type 6MU423 ; cylinder dia/stroke -290/420; rated 390 HP at 300 rpm, manufactured in 1940, Engine number: 7142 / 7147.

Both engines have natural aspiration (no turbochargers).

Despite the fact that the manufacturer is listed as DWK, it appears that both engines were World War II Krupp design and Deutsche Werke in Kiel was a licensee, see http://www.port21.pl/calanaprzod/article_46.html

What class of ship during WWII was given those engines? Does anbybody have an access to Krupp or DKW records to trace the name of the ships with these particular engines?

Thank you in advance for your help
