I purchased this item recently that was sold as being made from the wood from the captains cabin of U118 when it was disassembled at Hastings in 1919.
I can see on the UE11 plans that the Commandant had a cabin and that there was an officers area with what looks like wooden lockers.
Does anyone know of any details or pictures from the officers area of a WW1 U boat and specifically a UE 11 ?
The panel is ca. 1 cm thick and is made from a board with ply above and below it topped with teh triangular wood marquetry. The edge of the tray are possible teak.
To the painted rear of the panel it is carved U118 1919 1918.
