Ciao all,

many of you will know this name :

Propaganda Krieg (PK) Lieutenant Julius Ceasar Schmitz-Westerholt

He was the painter on board Prinz Eugen during Operation Rheinubung, he made several drawings during the battle of Denmark Strait signed by Kpt Brinkmann ( published on SIGNAL on September 1941 ) as well as after the war.

I would like to know more about this person, were he lived after the war ( city ) and if there is still somebody related to him we can contact ( son's, wife, grandson's, .. etc etc ).

Any information about this person ( if he made books or articles, if he became a journalist or what else he did in real life ) is welcome and will be precious to re-construct a piece of history.

Thanks in advance and Ciao Antonio  :D

Ciao all,

and here the B/W version published on 1942 on Nauticus magazine.

Both the above colour and this B/W version courtesy of Ulrich Rudofsky.

Another copy of the B/W painture photo  is available on Bundesarchiv Koblenz with Reference number Bild 146-1968-015-018.

Very interesting to be noticed the all 4 ships relative position on this moment  ( 06.00 ) and the Prinz Eugen wake on the left  ( port side ) of Bismarck.

                 Ciao  Antonio  :D
