Greetings from New Zealand,

I am seeking information on Matrosenobergefreiten Heinz Gabiel Jurgens. I know he was awarded the EK2 on the 2.7.40 on the Scharnhorst and then the Minesweeper badge on the 24/4/42 asa member of 2 Vorpostenflotille and the Wound badge in black on the 15/4/42. Any information at all would be very much appreciated. Thank you. Cheers, Toki.

Hi Toki,
Do you have Heinz Gabiel Jürgens date of birth. It not easy to find info on War record of one's that survived the War.
But will add your info into Kriegsmarine crew lists at HMA.

Hi Hubertus,

Sorry, I don't have DOB. I was looking for information on him regarding the award documents I have. Thanks.

Cheers,
Toki.

Hi Hubertus,

This guy was on the Scharnhorst, as I have his EK2 award document, awarded at Drontheim on 02/07/1940 and signed by Lutjens. His next award was the Minesweepers badge award on the 24/04/1942, as a member of 2 Vorpostenflotille.
His final award was for the Black wound badge for a wound on 15/05/1942.
Pure speculation but I wonder if he was a crew member of either M26, M152 or M256. All were attacked and suffered losses on the 15/05/1940. However, as I say only speculating. Anyway FYI. Thanks.
Best regards,
Toki.

Hi Herb,

Will check it out, thanks. My Bad with the dates. He was wounded on 15 May 1942, and the document was awarded/dated 2 June 1942. Dr Karl Diedrichs, Fregattenkapitän und Flottillenchef, signed it. 2 Vorpostenflottille.

Cheers,
Toki.
