03.05.1944: in La Spezia durch amerikanische Flugzeuge mit Bomben beschädigt - Totalverlust
24.04.1945: (+) lmperia.

SA-16 / S-621 / MAS-561

Baujahr 1941
09.09.1943: deutsche Beute in Varazze
08.11.1943: an X-MAS-Flottille
24.04.1945: bei Imperia im Gefecht mit den amerikanischen Schnellbooten PT-305 und PT-307 gesunken.

Hello,

the problem about the former Regia Marina MS and MAS boat in German hands is a sort of nightmare.

I believe there were two 621-628 series, the first one formed by MAS boats and the second one by brand new motosiluranti (MS, 60 t, a copy of the previous German type S 2) built at Monfalcone since May to Sept. 1944.

The last missing names are now SA8, 9 and 10. Did the Groener mentioned them in the last Dr. Jung issues?

mal an die KM-Spezialisten. Kann es sein, daß die Nummern SA1-7 zweimal, SA7 sogar dreimal vergeben wurden?
SA1-9 laut Fock "Die deutschen Schnellboote" einmal für in Frankreich erbeutete ex spanisch-republikanisch bestellte Schnellboote und laut Gröner/Jung/Maass "Die Schiffe der deutschen Kriegsmarine" SA1-7 ex italienisch MS16, 34, 36, 51, 63, 71 und 76.
Das 1943 erbeutete "MTB 345" erhielt laut Fock ebenfalls die Kennung "SA7". Reichlich verwirrend!

S 623 ex MAS 554, later SA 20
S 624 ex MAS 424, later SA 17

S 626 ex MAS 502
S 627 ex MAS 504
S 628 ex MAS 505, later SA 19

2.Serie

The 2.serie S 621-628 was from the C.R.D.A. 60 tonnellate-type build at Montfalcone. Between may and august 1944 S 621, S 623, S 626, S 627 and S 628 gone to the 24.Schnellboot-Flottille, S 622, S 624 and S 625 destroyed by an air-attack on 14.5. 1944, before entering service.

da ich den Gröner Band 2 noch nicht habe, könnte bitte einer nachsehen, ob darin etwas über ehemalige spanische, später in Frankreich erbeutete S-Boote zu finden ist. Dann wären möglicherweise die Nummern SA 8 und 9 geklärt.

Hello gentlemen,

I believe there were two SA 1-7 series, the first formed by the French yards motor launches (what did they become? LW rescue ML, I presume), the second by the ex Italian MS boats and that SA 8, 9 and 10 never existed.

For Spee, I have got Bagnasco's books and I will send his your appreciation.
