Hello,

First of all sorry that I am writing this in English, my German is very bad and a translator makes it worse I guess.
I have also asked this question on other sites.
I am looking for more information about Oberleutnant Zur See Günter Werner Schmidt.
I have two photoalbums of him and the first one is more private photo's, although with much interesting photo's of his naval career.
In the album are a couple of photo's of him when he was on the Segelschulschiff Gorch Fock, and on the S.M.S Schlesien during the invasion of Poland.
The only military photo showing him in military uniform is in March 1940, where he looks to be wearing an NCO of officers uniform.
The second album is a wedding album of Günter Werner Schmidt, dated the 10th of April 1943, in Antwerp.  :-)
On these photo's he has the rank of Oberleutnant Zur See, and his medals include the High Seas Fleet War Badge , the Minesweepers Badge and the E1 and EK2.
On this site I also found a link between him and the UJ 2209. (The former French Minerva)
He was the commander of that vessel.
But on other sites I found information of another (or the same) Günter Schmidt, he was awarded the German Cross In Gold on the 2nd of October 1943, his rank was Kapitäntleutnant, Torpedooffz. Zerstörer "Z 24".
Could anybody give information about if they are the same man, or more information about Günter Werner Schmidt.
I don't know if I am allowed to post photo's of him, so I won't.

:-) D_Dutch.

Hello D_Dutch!

If you are the owner of the photos then there is no problem to post them if you like.  :-)
