The best match for the finnish FÅA ship that I could find: S/S CORONA, built 1922. (S/S NELLY before 1936)

Thanks for the information. I posted befor I read it.

I decided against REGULUS based on the closed bridge. CORONA has an open bridge but I am still not 100 % sure.

Two photos of Regulus (1921?) compared with unknown ship in Helsingör. There was a REGULUS (1942) as well.

It looks like the ~1500 GRT ships built~1921/22 are all very similar. I have not found any photos of PALLAS (1921) or ARA (1923). Anyone?

The FÅA list of ships gave CORONA as 1921. It confused me for a while. It should be 1922 as you have shown.

Hallo,
GUD is showing a INGRID HORN in DEUTSCHE REEDEREIEN number 20 - the HORN COMPANY very similar from the portside. The dimensions around the superstructure are better as REGULUS. The admirally

of the funnel she got later as typical sign of the Finn-company.
Detlefsen wrote about her in German service - 14.12.1944 heavy demolations at Libau after explosion steamer ERIKA SCHÜNEMANN. First repairs in Danzig and to Warnemünde with refugees. On 15.03.1945 she note in a Danish dockyard. 08.05.1945 at Kiel.
The Rostock branche of KMD wrote on 06.02.1945 - 18 Uhr Warnemünde D "Coruna" mit 1500 Evakuierten an Bord ein, the next day 07.02.1945 Tel. Order Reederei Grammersdorf: D "Coruna" nach Abfertigung Warnemünde zu Howaldtswerke Kiel beordert. Kiel is in my opinion the right relation in the time.
I think the picturers in the Helsingör-yard made earlier in wartime on an ordenary reconstruction/repair and not after the Libau desaster. The S-boats could from the schoole flottilla on a visite in Danmark. Fotos of CORONA are standing in Danish liberies together with more schnellboote and TANGA in Helsingör, on of the boats are the letter A on the bow.

This shows that the ship is not CORONA or REGULUS.

I finaly found the FÅA Ship in Helsingör. It is S/S NAJADEN 1906 (100 % sure).

They are probebly painting over the neutrality marking after the start of Barbarossa (22 June 1941).

Ich halte den Mann nicht für den Kommandanten, weil er keine Offiziersmütze trägt. Ein eingeschiffter Fähnrich ?

I checked the boat details in the Kriegsmarine geheim book. It is S 36. The Kommandant is probebly August Licht (from HMA: S 36, 17 May-18 Oct 1941). He was (Ober?)steuermann der Reserve (ROA) at the time.

Ja, das wäre möglich.
Aber woher kommt überhaupt der Gedanke, daß dieser Mann der Kommandant sei ?
Steht das in einem Text auf der Rückseite des Bildes ?

Hi Urs,

Kommandant was just my first guess. It was only based on him being in the Kommandant possition (front, left on the boat) and a general feeling that he "owned" the boat (was not sure about the cap).

There are only pencil numbers on the photos (I put them in the file name). It is probably two numbering systems.

1. A running number ~1-150. In this case the four photos has 63, 68, 92, 93. It is generaly chronologic but not strictly. Might be connected to a list with descriptions. The relativly high numbers indicates that the photos are from the later part of the stay in Helsingör. A guess would be 21 Aug 1941 when S 36 (and S 56) had Einzelausbildung.

2. Numbers ~1-30. Probebly the photo number on the film roll. In this case 23, 27, 29, 30.

We will see if we meet Licht again when Walter gets to Norway.
