moin,

Zitat von: alo41 am 28 Februar 2026, 14:28:32I think it is S 12 in Kiel with Linienschiffe Schlesien SN and Schleswig-holstein SX in the background (correct?). It should be 17 May 1941 (HMA). Walter could be second from left.
Der Hintergrund paßt nicht zu Kiel, ich vermute Gotenhafen
Links von den Linienschiffen liegt das Walfangmutterschiff Unitas

I think it is S 12 in KW kanal (or Kiel?) on the way to Wilhelmshaven 18 May (correct?).
Ja, in einer Schleuse

Gruß, Urs

Thank you REINHARD,

A very clear answer.

More on the Ebay photos. Walter got on a new boat (S 56) in Wilhelmshaven on 28 May 1941.

Walter on S 56 in Swinemünde (Nothafen lighthouse in the back ground). He was there from the 28 May to 10 June (and some in Sassnitz and Kaplan). There are flowers (or something) on the tip of the airial. Are they celebrating someting?

The numbering on the photo indicates that this might be S 54 in Swinemünde as well.

The DB 502 motors in S 54. Walter is to the right on photo 3. The function of the control pannel was discussed here Link: https://forum-marinearchiv.de/smf/index.php?topic=18105.255

A photo that shows that Walter actually is the S 60 man.

Leuchtturm Swinemünde
Kaplan = Kolberg ?
Celebration : es könnte (!) der "Skagerraktag" (31.5.) sein

Yes Urs, You are right.

SH and SX are probebly in Gotenhafen (big buildings). I will try to find a "now" photo. It looks like the Schnellboote could have lunch in a harbour during training or test runs without it showing in HMA.

It should be Kolberg.

Skagerraktag is a good guess (it is not the S 56's or the Komendants birthday). Should the boat then have the Kaiser flag? It might be the day after, Walter looks a bit slow and under dressed.

I found another photo with the Ebay seller from Swinemünde.

It is also taken in front of the light house. Note the black ball with the red(?) and white stick in it. You can see it in both photos (what is it, water level indicator or something with the radio tower?). S 56 and anothe S-Boot in the back ground. It is also possible to see the folwded large mast in both photos (still in training). I think it is the S 56 crew with Komendant Nolte, Walter is no 6 from the right.

Hallo,
in the past around this years up to the 1950th the fishermen in the Baltic decorated their vessel on Pfingst-time with fresh greens on topp of the supetstructure or in the mast - REINHARD

alo41

Yes,

Skagerraktag (31/5) was a Saturday 1941 and Pfingst was on the Sunday-Monday 1-2 June. A good time to celebrate.

I could find a "Pfingstbusch" on the net so it makes sense.

Thank you both Urs and REINHARD.
