Golf von Policastro, 19.08.1943

Da ich weder mit Policastro noch mit Scalea einen Suchtreffer gelandet habe hatten wir das Thema eventuell noch nicht.

In der Nacht vom 18. auf den 19.08.1943 gingen im Golf von Policastro folgende Landungsfahrzeuge verloren:
(K)SF 230 und I-O-87 sowie F 454 auf Grund gesetzt (später aber wieder flott gemacht und nach Salerno verbracht). Diese Fahrzeuge fuhren zusammen was der Gefechtsbericht der 10. Landungsflottille bestätigt.

Weiterhin gingen vom 771. Pionierlandungsbataillon die Fahrzeuge L 212, L 214, L 216 und L 315 verloren.
Leider habe ich das entsprechende KTB nicht und im HMA ist eine Quelle [6] genannt, aber nicht näher benannt. Ich vermute dass damit das entsprechende KTB gemeint ist.


Gleichzeitig gibt es den Bericht von britischer Seite:

18 August 1943. Force Q. At 1000 Aurora, Dido, Penn and Panther sailed from Bizerta on a routine sweep of the Gulf of Policastro. Passing north of Ustica the force swept round the Gulf of Policastro some 3-4 miles offshore and steered towards Scalea.
19 August 1943. Force Q. At 0152, a number of barges or landing craft were sighted offshore steering towards Scalea. The force opened fire, setting two of the enemy craft on fire, while a third, surrounded by shell bursts, disappeared from the radar screen. At 0205, two more landing craft sighted further south were engaged without apparent result. Penn and Panther were detached to finish off both groups, a task they accomplished effectively. Penn sinking three and the Panther two of the enemy craft. Meanwhile, Aurora and Dido had steered at 15 knots keeping outside the 100-fathom line. At 0228 two more barges made straight for the shore on being sighted as soon as starshell were fired. The cruisers followed and opened fire at 4,000 yards. One barge was set on fire and the other was last seen with her bridge awash. These craft, which were about the size of an LCI, made no reply. Men were observed jumping overboard from them and it was possible that more seven were sunk. Dido, Penn and Panther were detached to Palermo at 0630 and Aurora proceeded to Bizerta.

Gibt es Zweifel daran dass Aurora, Dido, Penn und Panther für die oben genannten Verluste verantwortlich sind zumal sicher keine weiteren alliierten Einheiten dort operiert haben werden allein schon um friendly fire zu vermeiden?

                        of barges, some of which were sunk in brief engagement.
                        Took passage to Palermo with HMS DIDO and HMS PANTHER.

b) In "The Kellys" ist auf Seite 161 der vermutlich zur Verwirrung beitragende Einsatz genannt, der paar Tage früher stattfand:

Jervis and Paladin then joined Aurora and Penelope in an apparently ineffective bombardment of Scala on the Italian mainland on the 16th [August 1943].

c) Weekly Resume No. 208, 19.-26.08.1943:

On the following night [18./19.08.] H.M. cruisers Aurora ans Dido with two destroyers sank seven northbound landing craft off Scalea.
