U 31 unter dem Kommandanten Kapitänleutnant Johannes Habekost greift als erstes deutsches U-Boot einen Konvoi an und zwar den von Liverpool nach Nordamerika gehenden OB-4 und versenkt hierbei den britischen Dampfer Aviemore 4060 BRT

Bei http://www.convoyweb.org.uk/index.html kann man allerdings keine Bestätigung hierfür finden......seltsam 

Da greift U 31 als erstes deutsches U-Boot einen Convoy (OB-4) an und versenkt auch ein Schiff, die Aviemore, und das Schiff
gehört nicht mal dem Convoy an sondern hat nur das Pech seinen Weg zu kreuzen...

"At 08.15 hours on 16 Sep, 1939, U-31 fired one torpedo at the first ship in a convoy and saw it sinking after breaking in two. The Aviemore (Master Morton Forsythe) was in fact not part of the chased convoy OB-4, but was crossing ahead of the convoy and sank immediately after being torpedoed about 220 miles southwest of Cape Clear."
