Hallo an alle.

Hello to all. I recently received a Wilhelm Gustloff photo album that focuses on a u-boat doing training in Gotenhafen in December of 1942. I have asked many people and researched many hours, but it seems to be a lost u-boat emblem. I have the entire photo album posted on my museum website - WilhelmGustloffMuseum.com and the 113 photos of the album are under the Accomodation Ship page. If anyone could help, I would greatly appreciate it.

I have been looking a lot on uboat.net here in the US and according to that site, the U-375 was based in Italy as a front boat with the 22 Flottille from 12.41 to 8.43. I tried a search with all the uboats known to be in the 22 and 24 Flottille based in Gotenhafen, then checked their emblems - but no matches. There is a yellow training stripe on it, and most think it is a Type VII. I would imagine it was based in Gotenhafen and possibly the crew stayed on the Wilhelm Gustloff during that time.

Maybe you can contact Mr. Högel. I think he's still in search of further UBoot emblems.

I do not know hot to contact him, and all the information most have been giving me come from him. I do have the address of Walter Storbeck however, and I will probably write to him over the weekend to try and gain more information. Thanks!

Thoughts on it being the U-78 with an alternate emblem that is not documented?
