Siebelfähren in Patras?

Hallo zusammen,

in diesem Thema in unserem befreundeten (hoffe ich zumindest) Forum "Axis History Forum"

sind auf den Aufnahmen Nr. 07 + 08 im Vordergrund "Siebelfähren" zu sehen.

Wenn das bisher angegebene Datum "Mai 1941" stimmt: Welche Siebelfähren lagen zu diesem Zeitraum im Hafen von Patras?

Ich finde die Fotos bzgl. der Deckshäuser der SFs interessant.

Here's a Greek site that has some nice WWII pics of  ships, Seenot Flugzeuge and Siebelfähren in the port of Patras :

I have 7 pics of these Fähren (from ebay), one of them is T-15 (the number on another one is not quite clear). According to Kugler there were Siebelfähren in Patras for Unternehmen Verrat/Thunfisch. They arrived in Patras on 23-08-1944.

edit: Laut Kugler:

"Sie trafen dort am 23.8. ein und begannen sofort mit der Ablandung der Inselbesatzungen von Zante und Kephalonia nach Patras bzw. Prevesa. Gleichzeitig mussten Teile der 104.Jg.Div. für eine Operation gegen die Zervas-Partisanen im Pindosgebirge und dessen Ausläfern von Patras und Aigion nach Prevesa bzw. Itea übersetzt werden ........ wurden bis 26.8. vier Geleite von Patras nach Prevesa durchgeführt, neben denen auch die Räumungsfahrten von Zante und Kephalonia planmässig vonstattengingen."

Hallo Arjan,

ich denke nicht, dass die Fotos 1944 entstanden sind. Die AUGUSTO RIBOTY kam im September 1943 zu den Alliierten.
Die Fähren mit T-Bezeichnung, z.B. "T 15", waren m.M. SF-Fähren der Luftwaffen-Fährenflottillen, die im Herbst 1942 via Patras, Korinth-Kanal, Kreta nach Tobruk verlegt wurden. Die Fotos der "T xx" mit einem auffällig hohen Flakstand sind bekannt. Die Bezeichnung "T xx" kenne ich für 1944 nicht mehr.

sieht man auf der Backbordkaffe einen Namen "SEE???" . "SEEAAL", "SEESCHLANGE"?

Hallo Darius,

You are no doubt correct about the date. I don't know anything about regular ships  . I think the word is "siebelfa". So it seems it's simply "Siebelfähre". I have a pic taken in Antwerp showing a Siebelfähre that  has the text "Siebelfähre 4", painted on the side of the small cabin on the BMW Endschiff. By the way, what was the function of the small cabins on the BMW Endschiffe ?
