On 13 Jan 1945 he sailed aboard U 532 from Batavia. U 532 arrived in Loch Eriboll, Scotland on 13 May 1945. U 532 was surrendered to UK forces. He was taken into captivity from 13 May 1945 until 18 Jul 1948.
